San Marino Antiqua – Legends and Stories of the Titano Presented

The event "San Marino Antiqua – Legends and Stories of the Titano" was officially launched today. This new historical reenactment event, organized by the Secretariat of State for Tourism and the Tourism Board, is set to become a highlight of summer 2026, aiming to showcase the medieval roots of the Republic of San Marino.

The initiative is designed to rediscover and promote the historical and cultural heritage of San Marino and its surrounding areas through an innovative and immersive format. Local and international historical groups will bring the Middle Ages to life with reconstructions of episodes, scenes of daily life, tournaments, and performances.

A key feature of the event is its strong participatory spirit, fostering collaboration and teamwork to engage the audience in a dynamic and captivating experience.

The grand opening will take place on Friday, July 24, at the Cava dei Balestrieri with an exclusive evening show by 301 FILMONT. The performance will feature stunt performers from the action film industry, delivering high-intensity acts with duels, scenic effects, and fire stunts within a suspenseful narrative.

On July 25 and 26, "San Marino Antiqua" will come alive with over 800 participants involved in reenactments, medieval games, tournaments, and scenes of everyday life. Activities will take place in various areas of the Historic Center, animated by San Marino's main historical groups: Cerna dei Lunghi Archi at Piazzale Domus Plebis, the Federation of San Marino Crossbowmen at the Cava and Via Eugippo, the Court of Olnano and the Compagnia dell'Istrice in Piazza della Libertà, the Orti Borghesi and the Nido del Falco, the Compagnia della Forca traveling through the squares, the San Marino Historical Games Association at the Giardino dei Liburni, and 301 FILMONT at the Cava dei Balestrieri.

The event will also celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Federation of San Marino Crossbowmen and host the prestigious Torneo delle Libertà, where archers from across Italy will compete for the Collar of San Marino.

"San Marino Antiqua" builds on the established tradition of the Medieval Days, reinterpreting the concept with a fresh approach. The project features a new, more contemporary visual identity designed to effectively engage with modern communication trends, including digital platforms, aiming to attract a broad and diverse audience, including younger generations, while maintaining a strong connection to historical heritage.

Statements:

Federico Pedini Amati, Secretary of State for Tourism: "With 'San Marino Antiqua' we are proposing a high-quality format that combines identity, spectacle, and the participation of our historical groups. Valuing our medieval heritage means not only preserving memory but making it alive and accessible, transforming it into an attractive experience for visitors of all ages. This is the challenge ahead, and all the conditions are there for it to be a success."

Annachiara Sica, Director of the Tourism Board: "With San Marino Antiqua, we want to offer an experience that tells our historical roots in a new and engaging way, while also enhancing the great human and associative heritage of the territory. This event represents an important step in building an increasingly attractive and contemporary tourism offer, capable of dialoguing even with new generations through innovative languages and a strong spectacular component."
